Yesterday, 22 may, was the famous “Bitcoin pizza day”. The reason is that this was the date when the world’s first purchase of a product where bitcoin was the payment method was made.
The Bitcointalk user and programmer in Florida, Laszlo Hanyecz, bought pizza for 10,000 bitcoins have become pretty famous in the crypto world. Yesterday was exactly eight years since it happened.
It was a historic moment because it has come to be described as the first occasion when someone actually bought a something with bitcoin.
It started with Laszlo posting on the Bitcointalk forum where he wrote that he was prepared to pay 10,000 bitcoins if someone fixed one or two pizzas to him.
A few days later, May 22, 2010, he confirmed that he managed to make the exchange with another user on the forum.
I wonder how he feel today, maybe he doesn’t care, but with the current price of bitcoin, I can’t avoid to feel a little bit of bad for Laszlo.
